Bipartisan House bill proposes federal hemp THC framework ahead of November ban

Reps. Andy Barr and Angie Craig introduced the Lawful Hemp Protection Act, which would replace the Nov. 12 federal restriction with 21-and-older sales, U.S.-only production, testing and packaging rules, a 1% total-THC hemp threshold, FDA potency limits and federal taxes. Oklahoma hemp retailers and licensed cannabis businesses should track it because passage would reshape product eligibility, labeling, interstate competition and tax costs, but the current November deadline remains in force unless Congress acts.
