A 10-year observational study of 1,000 chronic low-back-pain patients found large reductions in opioid use, pain and disability among the 638 participants who completed follow-up, with generally mild adverse events. Oklahoma medical operators should treat the findings as hypothesis-generating evidence for long-term patient outcomes, not proof of causation, because the study lacked a randomized control group.
